Eine schöne Alternative zum thailändischen Massaman-Curry ist das kambodschanische Saraman-Curry, das vom muslimischen Bevölkerungsanteil des Landes stammt. Normalerweise macht man es mit geschnittenem Rinderfilet, aber alternativ geht auch Rinderhack, wodurch man das sämige Curry gut mit Baguette essen kann, z.B. mit dem Löffel wie einen Aufstrich auf das Baguette auftragen.
Eine leckere Beigabe sind diese Kügelchen mit einer Füllung aus Mungbohnen und einer Hülle mit geröstetem Sesam. Ausgesprochen wird der Name übrigens ungefähr wie "Num Kroh". Der Geschmack ist moderat süß und mit einer guten Portion Kokos.
